"You would think that a reverse version of you would at least be somewhat sane." - Gareth
Hooray! 7th September 2009 11:50:04 PM
So it's been what... nearly 2 months or something since I wrote stuff here?

Well a lot happened during those 2 or so months, so this is probably going to be a behemoth of a blog. However, if you don't care much for what I have been doing, and instead want to read about the greatest thing I have ever done (including stealing that traffic light) go ahead and click here.

So anyway, as far as I can recall, the earliest thing I intended to write about, was Gemma's 21st birthday. Most of you probably don't know who Gemma is, so I will tell you. She is Jim's girlfriend, and she's English (with an accent and everything). Also I think she has high heels permanently attached to her feet.

But yes, it was her 21st birthday, and we all went to the Hogsbreath Cafe in Joondalup. It was pretty nice, I had the largest steak you can get, and enjoyed it very much. There was also a nice cake, and the people I met were quite friendly. There was this one Irish-Italian girl who was quite funny, and even managed to correctly guess my age! I've forgotten her name now. Oh! She also liked Guinness!

So, here are some pictures from the night:

As it turns out, when you combine James Dwight (Jim) and my glasses, you get someone that looks a little like Daniel Radcliffe! (Harry Potter)

Cameron, Jayce, Spidey - Speak no evil, see no evil, hear no evil.

Gemma cutting her cake! Hooray!

When we finally finished our meals (and I finished off the meals that the others could not), we all decided we wanted to play pool, so we went to Pot Black at Hillarys. It was pretty standard pool action.

This is how you play pool, right?

Spidey won, I lost. It was a close match though! I swear!

Sadly I had to leave earlier than everyone else because I had work the next day, bit of a bummer, but hey whatever. So that was that!

The next significant thing to occur happened not too long after Gemma's gathering. Jayce, for some reason, decided we should all go bowling. And go bowling we did! I took Jayce and Spidey there from TimeZone, but we ended up chillin' bulk in the little amusement area for a while because the rest of the crew took a while to show up. Spidey played a lot of ticket games... and... well...

He actually had to get the guys that work there to replace the ticket rolls a few times.

You could win a Rubik's cube for some insane amount of tickets. It was actually a sudoku one, but it differed from the two that I already had, so naturally I had to have this one. Spidey, being the legend he is, got it for me; in exchange for food. Good deal I say.

Tim, Jess (more TimeZoners), Jim and Gemma finally showed up and we got on with some serious bowling. Probably the most serious bowling I have ever been involved at, just check out the moves Spidey was pullin'

I always pelvic thrust, it's how you play - Spidey

Now, you might think Spidey just bowled a strike, but he has actually only just let it go. You can see its reflection under his foot.

From memory I won both of the games we played. Go me. We got some food and then decided we wanted to play pool. So we did.

I was concentrating so hard that most of my hair fell out. True story.

The secret to Spidey's skill at everything.

I believe it was actually this same night that I stole the traffic light. Ah, good times.

So not a whole lot happened for a while, which might have explained the lack of updates. I did, however, get sick right before my exams, and had to get them differed. I never want to do that again, it was the worst. Spending the entire holidays thinking "I have exams at the end of this" totally killed the "I DON'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT STUFF" spirit. I ended up passing all my units though, and it was fine.

Oh, during the holidays I also spent a fair bit of time on my unicycle! I can now ride forwards quite well, and sorta stay on the spot a bit. I can sometimes mount it without a wall too! Practice practice practice.

I'm not sure if I mentioned this in another post, so I might just throw it in here while I'm at it. My work buddy, Luke, got fired, sadly. It sucks because it wasn't really his fault, but now there is a new guy at work, his name is John. I also got a new manager (probably mentioned that one). The funky thing is, I am now the longest serving staff member at my store. No other employee at the Watershed Malaga has lasted more than a year. Go me. It's actually become a beard store now, both John and Rob have some rockin' facial hair going on (as do I, of course).

So then UNI went back! And it's been great so far. I'm very much enjoying my maths units, and the computer science ones are OK (mainly because there are no labs! and two of them have no tests either!).

Now on to more recent affairs! A week or two ago, TimeZone Whitfords had this 'Cosplay Event' thingy. Basically you paid them 30 dollars and got 3 hours of free games. There was also a cosplay contest (hence the name). I didn't cosplay, I just went to play ITG until I died. It was quite fun and some of the costumes were pretty damn good! Some people also ninja'd some photographs of me which I didn't discover until recently, so that was funny. Check it out:

Spidey is pullin' some kinda ninja move or something like that.

Look at me go! With my manly pink towel...

Tamara caught me cheating (yeah you can cheat at it) at the basketball game.

This guy was so dedicated to his costume. He didn't take the mask off once, and kept his hands in his pockets like that pretty much the entire time. He won a prize, good on him.

It was free... so I figured I would have a game of DDR, for old time's sake.

Because we had unlimited swipes, and for some reason the swiper on ITG let us swipe without waiting 30 seconds between swipes (I'm just gonna say swipe again because I've said it so much) we ended up putting about 100 credits in over the 3 hours. Which was great, because it kept us grooving all they way till 10:30PM. It was a good day for ITG.

And now the next big thing! My baby brother turned 18 on the 2nd of September! Mum cooked a nice dinner, and he had a pretty crazy party on Saturday night... I actually wasn't here for it, I went to another party (which I'll write about in a minute!) but I've got some pictures, and it looks like it went off. Check it:

It went off so hard that even my 75 year old Dad was partying.

This girl went swimming in our pool (the heater hand't been on either) and then spent the entire night in NOTHING BUT HER SKIMPY WET BATHERS. I dare say she is manlier than I. Also she was probably very drunk...

My bro having (what I presume is) fun.

A HA HA HA

So like I said, I wasn't here for it (I didn't really want to be, to be honest). Antonia (one of my friends I met through ITG) had decided, by sheer coincidence, to have a party at her place on the exact same day! So I went to that. It was banging. Sadly, only about 4 photos were taken that night, and only one has me in it, so here it is:

Antonia is the short girl standing on the bath edge...

The party was dubbed "Night of Mayhem", and I think that is putting it somewhat lightly. A lot happened (and everyone there loved my beard!) but some of the things that I find hilarious include:

  • Dancing like a fool to rave music

  • Doing stupid Rubik's cube tricks

  • Sleeping on a girl's shoulder for a bit

  • Naming that same girl "blonde hair girl" even though, she did not have blonde hair

  • Attempting to walk to McDonald's with 5 or so other drunk people arm in arm with blonde hair girl, then getting horribly lost, turning around, and several hours later, finally finding Antonia's house (and thus my car) again.

  • Being so happy to see my car that I hugged it, then passed out on the lawn for a bit

  • Discovering that I did the entire walk with only my socks on, even though I had my shoes in my hands the entire time

So yeah, that was quite fun and I met a lot of cool people. Apparently they like me as I seem to have magically been invited to a whole heap of other events involving them. Fun times.

If you've stayed with me this far, then well done! Here is the promised awesome!

I OWN A DDR CABINET HOLY SHIT

Yes! For the past month and a half I have been talking with people in China, Melbourne and Fremantle about getting this thing from China to my house! And it finally arrived today! It's been in Australia since the 25th of August, but of course there was customs stuff, and also the fact that it was in a shipping container with a crap tonne of other people's stuff BUT HOLY CRAP IT'S HERE.

At the moment it does very little, I only finished putting it together at about 9:00 this night (I got it at 11:30AM). I still need to attach the header (the bit with lights and speakers), and then rig up a PC to drive the whole thing, but it should be great!

If you're interested, the machine is a Japanese one, and before I got it, it was in an amusement arcade in Hong Kong. To get it here I had to do a shit load of paper work and calling people and oh God I don't think I would do it again. It has been "fully reconditioned" according to the seller, and from the looks of things, that is the case. Ever piece of plexiglass seems brand new (no scratches), EVERY screw is present, the pads are clean, the panels are new and it looks so nice! I spent a few hours vacuuming dust and stuff off it though. Here are a few more pics:

The back of the cabinet. You can see the JAMMA harness, and a bunch of other wires that are to do with the lights and speakers.

So clean and shiny... eeeee.

For a machine that's seen over 400,000 games, it's in damn nice condition!

I'm so excited about getting it to work. I should have input working by tomorrow, but lights will be harder as there is no real easy way of telling which wires go to which lights (which I need to know for when I wire them to my lighting controller), so I will basically have to test each one.

If anyone is horribly interested, you can follow my progress here.

I will probably add a section to the site for it also.

So that's what I've been doing!

I was talking with Gareth the other night, and we came up with (what I think is) a brilliant new idea for an addition to the site. I should be implementing it on Friday/Saturday night, so stay tuned for that!

I hope everyone else is having a good time doing whatever!

PS: After purchasing and importing the DDR cabinet, I am now quite poor and would appreciate any kind of computer hardware donation people can spare. So if you've got an old power supply, hard drive, etc etc that you don't really want, I would be ever so glad if you would like to give it to me!

Edit:I noticed a few people have subscribed to my blog, but I have no idea who you are from the email addresses, care to let me know?!

Edit 2:Oh! I also forgot, potato cam has finally come to an end. In fact, it came to an end on the 30th of July. I'll hopefully post the video this week.
