"Face lies are the worst kind of lies!" - Liam
Did You Know... 24th June 2009 04:26:52 PM
1. The globes in traffic lights are 10v, and made in Germany?

2. The globes in traffic lights seem to be very well protected by the casing, as they all work after someone has hit the pole with their car and the light has fallen on the road?

3. The casing of traffic lights is made in England?

4. The wiring for the lights is a bit strange. Rather than have a single transformer, and then wiring the lights to that, there is a transformer for each light. Presumably this was done because initially traffic lights used 240v globes (which was a dumb idea) so all the infrastructure existed for 240v lights, so when some smart cookie realised 10v lights would do just as well, rather than modify the infrastructure, they put the transformers in the actual lights?

5. I now need to buy relays that can handle 240v, instead of 10, like I originally thought?

They'd work so much better were it not for the pesky invention of RCDs.

Come on Cam, whats the hold up on having the most awesome lights in all of Perth?

Honestly how cool will it be if you have a remote controlled set of traffic lights in your room?!?

Answer, cooler than a sweet potato.(and thats pretty damn cool in itself!)

That is all.
