An email I recieved today:
"People whose scripts are working on home installations of MySQL are having
troubles on our server. It all has to do with the InnoDB engine and there
seems to have been some privilege hiccough somewhere. Remember at home you
will working with SUPER privileges, not so here.
However I have worked with InnoDB with the same privileges as a student and
been fine. Something has changes, but the systems people have not touched
the MySQL installation.
What is happening now is that you incorrectly create a table (using InnoDB),
drops the connection, then you have a table entry which is listed, but isn't
there. You can't drop it because it doesn't exist. You can't create a new
one because it is already there. Go figure!
We need to manually delete the relevant files in the relevant database for
each individual. Time consuming.
For now change to another database, and create your tables BUT DON'T use the
InnoDB engine (don't list the engine at all).
We will get to the bottom of it.
